There are questions about the future of the embattled Education Director at York Region's public school board.
Some trustees suggest J. Philip Parappally might be faced with calls to resign and that it might be better for everyone involved if the Director moved on.
This comes on the heels of a damning government report alleging a board of dysfunction and incompetence, led by unethical and incompetent leaders.
It pointed the finger at Parappally as one of the root causes.
What is clear is that the Director's future is a sensitive subject.
Many of York Region's trustees defer to the Board chair on questions surrounding the organization's next steps, and how they feel about Parappally's ability to lead the Board to reforms ordered by the Education Minister.
Others, including Board Chair Loralea Curruthers, did not return repeated requests for comment from NEWSTALK 1010.
One trustee who is willing to speak out is Markham's Juanita Nathan.
She says if the allegations surrounding Parappally are true, somebody else needs to lead.
"I don't think that if any of (the allegations) are true, we can really work with the Director going forward," she says.
Richmond Hill trustee Carol Chan stops short of saying she believes Parappally should resign, but admits that his performance has been "disappointing" and lacks "leadership."
Nathan insists that she and her colleagues understand that the Board needs to do better and adds that the organization is committed to, "making this wrong right."
The school board meets on Wednesday night to discuss the Education Minister's orders, as well at the future of the Director of Education.
