As governments work to get more people to take transit, one of the incentives to do so is about to disappear.
A program, used by millions of riders, that gives riders a discount when they travel between GO Transit and the TTC is set to expire at the end of March.
A Metrolinx spokesperson confirms to the Toronto Star that it will end as scheduled on March 31st.
The provincial government has been footing the bill, about $18 million a year, but it has decided not to continue the funding.
Metrolinx says the program has been over budget each year since it started in 2018 and that it has made up for the shortfall.
There was some talk of a deal between the TTC and Metrolinx to split the cost and keep the discount going but they haven't been able to come an agreement.
