For the second time in two weeks, according to TTC spokesperson Brad Ross, a vehicle was driven into the Queens Quay streetcar tunnel.
It happened Saturday around 4 a.m.
Ross tweeted, "Despite bollards, signs, rumble strips, flashing lights and raised track, some still manage to drive their cars down the Queens Quay streetcar portal, though mostly on weekends and in the middle of the night. Enough. The TTC will now be installing a gate mechanism."

Speaking with CP24 Ross said "we have avoided a gate because the problem with gates is that they are mechanical and they can fail. When they fail they fail safe, but that also means that streetcars then can't get in and out of the tunnel like they are supposed to do."
Ross says they will now begin the process of looking into what will work best and once there is an installation timeline they will let everyone know.
