The union representing two Hamilton paramedics accused of failing to respond properly to a dying teenager's pleas for help says the men have been fired.
The head of OPSEU Local 256 says the city informed Chris Marchant and Steve Snively they had been fired on Wednesday.
In a statement, Mario Posteraro calls the dismissal ``harsh and unjust action.''
The two men were charged criminally last week in the December 2017 death of 19-year-old Yosif Al-Hasnawi.
Police said Al-Hasnawi was shot when he tried to help an older man who was accosted outside his mosque by two other men.
Witnesses said the paramedics acted like the teen was faking the seriousness of his injuries.
