A pair of fires brone out in Oshawa early Sunday morning within a short time and proximity to one another.
The first fire broke out in a building on 143 Bloor St West, near Simcoe Street around 2:25 a.m.
About an hour later, crews responded to a second structure fire at College and Cromwell Avenues, near Park Road and the 401.
That one was a garage fire detached from a building structure.

The Bloor street blaze involved a 4 story structure under construction that was destroyed. Several vehicles in the vacinity were also damaged.
According to Oshawa deputy Fire Chief Todd Wood, who spoke to our media partner CP24, some adjoining buildings and homes also suffered damage from the intense heat of the fire.
"The apartment to the west of it, the balconies that face this building were heavily damaged. There was some debris that came from this fire that ended up on the blaconies that caught some of those apartments on fire. Their windows have been breached, they have smoke damage, water damage."
That has resulted in some of those residents being forced to leave their apartments. The exact number is unclear, but Woods adds the Red Cross will be involved with aiding those who need it, along with gift cards or temporary housing.
As for the second fire, Wood confirmed it started in a detached garage.
"Subsequently caught a building next to it, an adjacent building on fire. There were a couple of buildings that sustained damage there."
The large scale operation to fight the initial fire, prompted calls to Whitby and Clarington in assisting to knock down the second fire.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
As for a possible cause with either fire, Wood couldn't offer much.
"At this time we can’t speculate. Our investigators will be working throughout the day with the OFM and Durham Regional Police."
The Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate.
