The Toronto Student Transportation Group says that two of their carriers are once again short a few drivers going into the start of school next week.
They say that 99 per cent of routes for the TDSB are covered, but 21 routes with Sharp Bus Lines and Stock Transportation are still without a permanent driver.
The group says contingency plans are in place and the companies plan to use alternate or spare drivers to cover those off.
Kevin Hodgkinson is the GM with Toronto’s Student Transportation Group and he says even if there are hiccups next week, he gives his assurance that it will be “nothing like last year.”
He adds that the companies involved will absorb the additional cost of backfilling with drivers from out-of-town.
Another update is expected by the end of the week.
Last week, we heard from Halton Student Transportation Services that they expect delays because of a shortage of drivers in Oakville and Burlington.
