A total of 320 workers from Lear Ajax, a seating supplier for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Brampton Assembly plant, have gone on strike.
Represented by Unifor Local 222, the workers walked off the job 12:01 a.m. Saturday after negotiations for a new collective agreement broke down.
According to a news release, the workers delivered a 99 per cent strike mandate earlier in the week.
"The members are united and we are determined to obtain an agreement that addresses the workers' key issues," Colin James, Unifor Local 222 president, said in the release.
Unifor National President Jerry Dias said the union bargained up until the deadline, but "unfortunately it became clear that Lear was just unwilling to make a fair offer."
