Police are at a townhouse complex in Scarborough.
A man was found dead in a parking lot on Chester Le Boulevard around 8 a.m. Saturday.
Detective Jason Shankaran with the homicide unit says 9-1-1 calls came in around 1:30 a.m. for shots fired in the Victoria Park and Finch Avenues area. They did not find the body of the victim until 8:00 a.m. after another call to 9-1-1 from a passerby who saw the body.
"Right now we're appealing for people to come forward. Also people who may have known the victim to come forward," Detective Shankaran said. "Obviously his family is quite distraut at this time, they are also looking for answers, as we are to why this happened."
Police will only identify the victim as a 24-year-old man who lived in the neighbourhood.
But friends have identified him as Samatar Farah.
They told CTV News Toronto that they are shocked by this incident since he was not someone who was part of “that lifestyle.”
“He was such a good kid – this was definitely not him,” Gure Omar said. “If people think this is the lifestyle he lived, no. He was a very good kid.”
Police are currently looking for two suspects who fled on foot from the scene, but no description has been given.
Police don't believe there is any threat to the public as the victim appears to have been targetted.
Anyone with information is asked to call Police or Crime Stoppers.
