Hamilton Police have made arrests in the fatal stabbing of a Hamilton student Monday afternoon.
A 14-year-old boy died Monday afternoon in hospital after being assaulted outside Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, in the city's east end, just before 1:30.
The boy was rushed to hospital, but later died of his injuries.
Late Monday night Hamilton Police updated the case confirming that three teenagers had been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing and two more were being sought.
The two outstanding suspects are described as a male and female. No ages were given.
According to Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk, his team of investigators spoke to the victim's mother, who was with her son when he was attacked.
"She's witnessed something horrible here, she's gonna be distraught, she is distraught. She's devastated."
In a statement, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board offered condolences and support to the victim and family.
"Our hearts are broken. Our entire community shares in the grief and sadness of having lost a valued and loved student."
Police confirm they are looking into the connection between the victim and suspects and are also investigating previous bullying incidents against the victim.
