Toronto Police are investigating the city's latest murder.
Police say a 52-year-old man was shot to death in his apartment at 25 Henry Lane Terrace in The Esplanade and Lower Jarvis Street area around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police say they received mulitple calls for the sounds of gunshots, as well as screaming and yelling.
When officers arrived they went to a unit on the fourth floor and found the victim suffering gunshot wounds.
Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone said the officers attempted to revive the man, but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Carbone told reporters at a press conference at 51 Division he was not releasing the name of the man until they have reached his next of kin.
The man lived alone in the apartment.
"It appears, and it is very early (in the investigation) it does have the earmarks of a targeted shooting." said Carbone.
Police have spoken to witnesses and are looking over surveillance footage, but ask anyone with any information to contact them.
