An 81-year-old man is accused of killing his 82-year-old wife in Brampton, CTV NEWS has learned.
Lu Hong Liang is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Bao Lian Li, and while police have not released the relationship, CTV NEWS confirms they were married.
Just before 9 a.m., Peel Police responded to 911 at a home in the area of Bramalea Road and Gates of Bramalea in the City of Brampton, finding Li dead inside.
"We believe that this is domestic-related, yes," Peel Police Cst. Heather Cannon said.
Neighbours said along with the senior couple were a middle-aged couple living in the home, along with some grandchildren.
"They are quite possibly the most normal family," one next-door neighbour said. "I'm seriously in shock right now."
"Every once in a while there used to be some banging, but I mean it just sounded like playing, the kids or something, and never noise, never a problem."
Liang appeared in court Monday afternoon.
This is the sixth homicide of the year for Peel Region.
