A 26 year-old man is dead and a 23 year-old woman is recovering in hospital, after gunfire erupted outside a Newmarket home Friday night.
The home was apparently listed on AirBnB as a short-term rental.
York Regional Police confirm they responded to a gun call at a home on Colter Street, which is west of Yonge Street and south of Mulock Drive, just after 9 p.m. Friday night.
They found a male and female victim with injuries.
Pictures from the scene show a white SUV with the front passenger door still open and multiple police markers around it.
The vehicle also sustained bullet holes. One of the back windows was shattered and there was some blood spatter on the garage door.
The male died in hospital,the female victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police Staff Sgt. Aaron Busby is hopeful witnesses will step forward with any information.
"At the time it was heavily populated with neighbours. We are asking for the public's assistance, if you have any dashcam of the area, anything that they feel is suspicious please contact police or Crime Stoppers."
Police are looking for two suspects in a dark coloured four-door sedan seen leaving the area after the shooting.
