The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Mississauga finally reopened Saturday afternoon.
That side of the busy highway was closed for hours as OPP investigated a rollover and reported shooting involving two vehicles near Winston Churchill Boulevard around 4 a.m.
One of the vehicles lost control and ended up on its side, while the other vehicle fled the scene.
Five people in the vehicle that ended up on its side walked away and were found nearby uninjured. They were questioned by police.Their vehicle was riddled with bullet holes.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt posted a video to Periscope describing the vehicle they are looking for as a red car with significant damage on both sides because "it was involved in the collision and made contact with the barriers on both sides of the highway."
At around 3:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the OPP annnounced via twitter that all lanes had reopened to traffic, Schmidt thanked drivers for their patience during the investigation.
Schmidt is hopeful several buildings in the area that may have cameras will "provide some information" on the accident and the car that fled.
