Police have arrested the second of three men wanted in connection with a shooting that say a Scarborough playground sprayed with bullets as children played.
Two sisters, aged five and nine were hurt and hospitalized but survived.
23-year-old Tarrick Rhoden was arrested in the Algonquin Highlands Wednesday. Rhoden faces 17 charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, a number of gun offences and possession of cocaine.
Rhoden looked a little dishevelled in the prisoner's box of an Old City Hall courtroom Thursday. His white T-shirt was rumpled, its neckline stretched out. Rhoden listened, his hands crossed in front of him as his lawyer booked his next court date for August 28.
Police have not said where they believe Rhoden has been since the June 14 shooting. But Vern McPhail of Brampton was also charged Wednesday with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence.
Sheldon Eriya was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault the day after the shooting.
Stacey Long, the mother of the two girls shot on the playground told NEWSTALK 1010's sister station CP24 Thursday she was relieved a second suspect has been arrested but she will feel better once the third suspect is caught.
Toronto Police are still after T’Quan Robertson for charges including attempted murder.
Long urged Robertson to surrender.
"You're being a coward, turn yourself in," she told CP24.

Long describes the road to recovery for her daughters marked my physiotherapy and counselling sessions as overwhelming, frustrating and stressful.
"They have their moments where they're okay and then they have their sad moments. They have the scars for the rest of their life."
