An arrest warrant has been issued by Toronto Police after a brutal assault on a 37-year-old woman and her teenage daughter in their Scarborough apartment Friday night.
Police responded to a call from an apartment building at 50 Trudelle Street, in the McCowan and Danforth Road area at around 6 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, they found a 16-year-old girl suffering from life-threatening stab and slash wounds to her neck and face. Her mother had been struck with an object and received injuries to her upper body.
The girl was rushed to hospital but her condition has since been upgraded to serious. She remains stable in SickKids' intensive care unit.
Her mother was treated for her injuries at Sunnybrook and released.
46-year-old Harry Rajkumar of Toronto, is wanted for attempted murder, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of aggravated assault and fail to comply.
Police say he was in a relationship with the 37-year-old woman and although he did not live in the apartment, the couple has two younger children together. However, he has no blood relation to the teenage girl.
The motive for the attack is unknown.
Rajkumar is described as 5'11", and 160 lbs and was last seen wearing a red shirt with a white zip-up jacket. Rajkumar is believed to be driving a grey 2009 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck with Ontario License Plate AJ 21674.
He is to be treated as armed and dangerous, as no weapon has been recovered. If located police urge you call 9-1-1 immediately.
