Peel Regional Police have arrested a 28 year-old man in connection with a 5 year-old boy who was found by train tracks and badly injured this morning.
Dyon Smart, 28, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, failing to comply with recognizance and breach of probation order. He appeared at the Brampton Court of Justice for a bail hearing early this afternoon.
Peel Police told NEWSTALK 1010 this morning that a missing 5 year-old boy in Brampton was located after about an hour and according to paramedics, he had life-threatening head injuries.
It is not clear how he was hurt.
The child was reported missing by his mother around 6 am in a neighborhood not far from McLaughlin and Queen. Police say his mother put him to bed last night, checked on him at 2 am, but woke up this morning to find him gone.
They say the front door of the townhouse near McHardy and McMurchy was open.
The boy was discovered by a K9 police officer before 7 am next to train tracks close to his home.
NEWSTALK 1010 has learned that a Dyon Smart was charged with attempted murder last year, after a man was stabbed in the ear at a home in the same area.
Meantime, CP24 is reporting that Smart was the boy's mother's ex-boyfriend.
