It was a beautiful day to go for a run in mid town Toronto Saturday, but a day that almost turned deadly for a jogger.
The victim, believed to be a 19 year old female, was stabbed by an unknown assailant as she ran through Lawrence Park in the Yonge and Larence area.
According to Toronto police constable David Hopkinson, there was a struggle before the assailant took off. "We had a woman call us and indicate she was out on the street, she was approached by an unknown man and stabbed." It's believed the incident was random."We have located evidence of a violent struggle,ie blood, in that area. We have that cordoned off and are waiting for our forensic identification team to attend and take samples."
A neighbour reportedly drove the woman to hospital where she was being examined. Police have confirmed the injuries are non life threatening.
Police have released a description of the suspect wanted. Male in his 20's, approximately 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 8, 130 pounds with a thin moustache. Skinny, scruffy hair, blk hoodie.
