The condition of a young girl struck by a fire truck near Oakwood Avenue and St. Clair Avenue Monday afternoon, has been updated to stable.
The girl was struck as she attempted to cross the road on Oakwood Avenue.
The northbound Toronto fire truck had lights and sirens running on route to a call when it struck the girl.
Speaking to our media partner CP24 Monday night, Toronto Police Duty Inspector Jim Gotell confirmed the identity of the girl as an 11-year-old.
" It wasn't believed she had life-threatening injuries, however she was taken there(St. Mike's hospital) on an emergency run as a precaution. And it turns out, the injuries are not life-threatening, they are serious but not life-threatening. So I'm told that she is doing very well in hospital right now."

Witnesses reportedly told police the girl was inside the crosswalk at the intersection when she was struck, but the lights were not flashing, one of many scenarios Gotell confirms will be investigated.
"The accident does appear to have happened near the crosswalk in or near the crosswalk, but it's really early stages of our investigation."
A police reconstruction team was brought in and Gotell also confirmed a TTC bus, that was near the scene at the time of the collision, was held back to view the onboard camera footage of the accident.
