We have an update on that suspicious death investigation in Oakville last night.
The victim has been identified as 91 year-old Edmund Ferrari.
Just after 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Halton Police were called after an elderly male was found lying on the sidewalk near Allan and Church streets in Oakville.
Paramedics noticed the victim had obvious injuries to his chest. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died of his injuries.
Halton Police would like to speak to a man seen leaving the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle around the time of the incident. Police say he may be a witness.
He's described as a black male, around 30 to 40 years-old. He had an average build, with shoulder-length hair.
He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, possibly with a reflective stripe.
The man was seen leaving the area in a newer model, black, 4-door Volkswagen Golf, driving southbound on Allan Street and then westbound on Lakeshore Rd.
Halton Police have released video and images of the vehicle.
Anyone with information about this incident, security camera footage, surveillance footage, or dash cam video from Allan Street, Church Street, Lakeshore Rd. E., Randall St., Reynolds St., Douglas Ave., and/or the general downtown Oakville area between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, is asked to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776 or Crime Stoppers.
A post-mortem on the victim is scheduled for tomorrow.
