Toronto Fire responded to a house fire West of Yonge street between Wilson Ave and Lawrence Ave. overnight.
The fire started in the basement of the home near Old Orchard Grove between Joicey Boulevard and Haddon Street.
Four people were inside the home upstairs at the time of the fire. All four escaped safely.
District Chief Stefan Powell confirmed to NEWSTALK 1010 Sunday morning that 11 fire trucks were called into to respond to the call, just after 4 am.
"It started out as a normal fire response, we upgraded it immediately to a working alarm and then again to a first alarm fire."
Powell adds the fire was knocked down within an hour, before crews gave the all clear.
"The reason that it took longer than normal time would be just that we were looking for extension of fire. We didn't want anything lingering in the walls or ceiling areas of the property."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
