Peel police are looking for a suspect following an incident at a police station in Brampton.
According to police, it happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday at the parking lot at 22 Division which is located at 7750 Hurontario St.
Officers noticed an SUV in the parking lot while reviewing security camera feeds, Constable Rachel Gibbs told CP24.
They decided to run its licence plate and the vehicle came up stolen.
It had also been involved in several gas-and-dash thefts across the GTA.
Gibbs said the officers then went outside and approached the vehicle but when they got close, the driver stepped on the gas and drove at them.
Police in turn fired one shot at the vehicle before it took off.
A pursuit followed westbound on Highway 407 but the chase was called off.
Police got a call Saturday morning that the same SUV was involved in a gas-and-dash in Mississauga.
A short time later the vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames underneath a bridge near Glen Erin Drive and Meadowvale Town Centre Circle, Gibbs said.
None of the officers was injured.
