Quite the scene on the Wednesday evening drive home in Burlington.
Flames were seen out of the roof of the Paletta International Building at 4480 Paletta Crt., near the 403 and Appleby Line, and smoke could be seen for kilometers.
It started around 4:30 p.m. and the building was soon fully engulfed.
The building appears to be used as a meat packing facility, called Tender Choice Meats.
Burlington Fire Chief Dave Lazenby tells our sister station CP24 approaximately 40 firefighters with 14 fire vehicles were at the scene.
Extra help was requested from Oakville and Hamilton.
Chief Lazenby says all staff were accounted for on site and no evacuation was ordered for surrounding buildings, but people were aksed to stay in their offices when the intial fire call came in so they were not exposed to the thick smoke.
Lazenby says crews will be at the scene all night.
No word on what caused the fire. The Fire Marshal's office is expected to be on scene Thursday.
