Peel Regional Police say a 38-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after an early morning collision in Brampton left one man dead.
Around 1:45 a.m. Sunday police responded to a pedestrian struck at a plaza on Torbram Road and Peter Robertson Boulevard area. When officers arrived on scene they found a man who was rushed to hospital. The 34-year-old man from Caledon later died from his injuries in hospital.
Police say the victim was struck by a pick-up truck which remained on scene.
Homicide detectives were called after the Major Collision Bureau and Forensic Identification Unit atteneded the scene and determined there were "suspicious circumstances" around the man's death.
38-year-old Avtar Dhammi was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree murder. He appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton Sunday and remanded into custody.
