A man who was fighting for his life after being shot has died.
It happened around 7:45 a.m. Sunday near a Toronto Community Housing building on Sherbourne Street, near Queen Street East.
According to investigators, the man was shot in the chest and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have taped off the building as they collect evidence and review video surveillance footage.
Toronto Police Homicide Detective Rob North says they are looking for at least two suspects. They have a brief description of one of the suspects as a male, about 5'8" and fled the area northbound.
Det. North does not believe this was a random act, but does not have a motive for the incident yet.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has video of the area from their home or business to contact them.
