Toronto police have identified the city's latest homicide victim as Jaiden Jackson, 28, who was shot and killed in the Yonge and Wellington area just after 9 p.m. Sunday.
Police say they received a call for shots fired outside the Pick 6 restaurant at the southeast corner of the intersection.
According to a release Monday afternoon, Jackson and an unidentified woman wearing a pink or orange dress left the restaurant and walked westbound on the north side of Wellington Street West towards his car.
That's when another vehicle with three occupants came south on Jordan Street and made a left turn, proceeding eastbound on Wellington in the wrong direction.
Police say the car made a quick u-turn, heading towards the man and woman. Two of the suspects - both armed - then got out of the vehicle and began shooting at Jackson.
Jackson attempted to escape by running down the underground parking ramp of 18 Wellington Street West, but was chased by the driver of the vehicle. At that point, all three suspects were firing shots, before getting back in the car.
"When we arrived on scene we did find one victim," Toronto Police spokesperson Gary Long confirmed to NEWSTALK1010. "A male was transported to hospital for treatment. He was later pronounced at the hospital, deceased."
Investigators say the suspect vehicle was a black four-door Honda Civic with a sunroof. It was last seen reversing up the ramp of 18 Wellington, heading westbound and then turning southbound onto Bay Street.
A portion of Wellington Street was closed for the investigation but has since re-opened.
Anyone with any information on the shooting or possesing dashcam video is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers.
