At least two men are on the run after a wild abduction and chase overnight.
NEWSTALK 1010 has learned a man was thrown into the trunk of a car near Steeles Ave E and McCowan Rd just before 1 a.m. Friday and his captors started driving.
Constable Allyson Douglas-Cook says Toronto Police received a call from someone who relayed information about the car's location for a few minutes.
Douglas-Cook would not identify the caller or where their information was coming from. But a staff sergeant at police's 31 Division tells NEWSTALK 1010 the victim texted his girlfriend about his abduction from the trunk and that Ontario Provincial Police were able to use the man's cellphone to pinpoint the car's location.
Douglas-Cook says police did eventually get eyes on the car and chased it. That chase was called off because it became unsafe. She says OPP helped Toronto Police locate the car which had been abandoned near Hwy 401 and Hwy 400 but did not elaborate.
The man was rescued from the trunk and checked out by paramedics. He didn't suffer any physical injury.
Police haven't offered any description of the suspects they're after.
