A relatively quiet Saturday afternoon turned deadly in the city's West end.
A man has died after he was shot inside the Toronto West Flea Market at 404 Old Weston Road and St. Clair Avenue.
Toronto Police were called to the scene just after 3:30 p.m., where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound with vital signs absent. The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the victim as 65-year-old Rocco Scavetta, an employee of the market.
Spokesperson Gary Long confirmed to NEWSTALK 1010 Saturday afternoon that bystanders in the area at the time of the shooting helped police track down a suspect, who had fled the scene.
"Members of the public proceeded tro advise us that they saw the alleged shooter. We were into the area, we since found him and arrested him, we've also retrieved a gun."
Saturday night, Detective Michelle Campbell updated the investigation, confirming the suspect was a teenager.
."A 16-year-old young person has been arrested and we are not looking for any other suspects at this time. The youth cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act."
