A man was rushed to a trauma centre with life threatening injuries Monday evening, after he was struck by two, possibly three vehicles near Warden Ave. and McNicoll Ave. in Scarborough.
Toronto Police tell NEWSTALK1010 they received several calls just after 7:00 p.m. from witnesses who saw one or two of the vehicles fleeing the scene.
One of the vehicles is described as a small, light-coloured car with significant front end damage. Police are still trying to get more information on the other vehicle.
Initially police believed one of the vehicles remained at the scene, but they have since confirmed this was not the case.
About an hour later, as police were investigating the collision, a police cruiser was struck from behind by an SUV.
Two officers suffered minor injuries in that crash and were taken to hospital, while the SUV eventually came to a stop on a front lawn on nearby Glen Springs Drive.
Witnesses told media partner CP24 that the female driver of the SUV was tasered and there were alcohol bottles in the vehicle, although police cannot confirm those details.
However, Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook confirmed that the woman, who had someone else in the vehicle with her at the time, was arrested on suspected impaired driving.
The woman - who is believed to be only 18 - was also taken away by paramedics on a stretcher, although it's unclear what her injuries were.
Any witnesses who have not spoken to police are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
