Toronto's mayor is asking city staff to accelerate a study of clothing donation boxes after the death of a woman inside of one.
The woman died after becoming trapped in a donation bin near Bloor St W and Dovercourt Rd at about 2 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters cut away the steel container to free the woman, but it was too late.
Police call it a case of "death by misadventure."

West Vancouver has recently sealed its clothing bins as it investigates safer options for accepting donations after a similar death late last year.
A report on bylaws governing Toronto's donation boxes is expected in September, but John Tory would like to see it finished as soon as possible.
Tory believes the focus of of the review should be making sure that deaths like that of the woman killed Tuesday can never happen again.
He'd also like staff to examine where bins are located and whether they are the best way to collect donations to help those in need.
At least eight people have died in donation bins across Canada since 2015.
