A year-and-a-half long journey through the courts for Mike Bullard ends with the former NEWSTALK 1010 host pleading guilty to 3 charges.
Bullard admitted to making harassing phone calls to his ex-girlfriend, CityTV journalist Cynthia Mulligan.
The remaining 2 charges are connected to breaching court orders, one of which was for Bullard to stop contacting his ex.
The other bail condition was to live with his surety at a home north of Toronto.
The resolution was finalized at a downtown courthouse on Friday afternoon, and means that the case will not proceed to a trial.
Bullard was given a suspended sentence with 6 months of probation, and will have to complete a counselling program.
He's also required to stay away from Mulligan, as well as 'be on good behaviour.'
The plea deal comes about a week after the judge dropped two of the most serious charges facing Bullard, including criminal harassment.
Bullard's trouble with the law dates back to 2016, in the weeks and months after Mulligan and Bullard broke off their relationship.
They had been dating on-and-off for about 8 months.
Mulligan stayed composed through the final courtroom hearing, as she confronted Bullard through a victim impact statement.
She called his behaviour 'abuse' that caused a 'growing, pervasive fear' in her life and the lives of her children, adding that it was something that no woman should have to endure.
The veteran reporter also told the court about how the coverage of the case left her feeling humiliated, and that the 'extremely isolating' ordeal was a source of embarrassment.
Mulligan closed her statement by looking directly at her ex from across the courtroom, telling Bullard:
"Don't ever contact me ... as long as you live."
Bullard's attorney, Calvin Barry, downplayed the admissions from his client.
"What you're left with is annoying phone calls ... and some conditions of bail," Barry says.
"He's taken full account for that."
Bullard deflected questions about his behaviour after the hearing wrapped up, insisting that he's been "nothing but a gentleman."
"I've never stalked or abused a woman in my life, I've never made an obscene phone call in my life and I never will," says Bullard.
He also lashed out at a NEWSTALK 1010 reporter when he was asked about Mulligan's victim impact statement.
"Its the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life," Bullard says.
He went on to suggest that Mulligan is "really good at the emotions," but wouldn't explain what he meant.
