A 2-year-old is among those critically injured after a four vehicle crash in Newmarket early Sunday morning.
York Regional Police's Major Collision Investigation Unit is looking into the cause of the crash on Davis Drive between Jane St. and Keele St. at about 7:15 a.m.
Originally, York Police told NEWSTALK1010 a total of four vehicles were involved in the collision, injuring seven people. Of those injured, two were in critical condition.
But Saturday afternoon, York Regional Police Inspector Peter Casey told our media partner CP24 that in fact 8 people in total were injured, including the young child.
"At this time the hospital maintains that this young person is in very serious condition and has not been stabilized yet. Five of the eight people involved in this collision have either very serious or critical injuries."
Police do not yet know why the vehicles collided or if weather was a factor, as there was significant fog over the GTA in the early morning hours.
