Ontario is reporting 85 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the provincial total to 588.
The large increase includes one more death, meaning seven people have now died of the illness in the province.
Complete information is not listed for most of the new cases, but the deceased person is a woman in her 90s from Durham Region.
As a matter of fact, according to Durham Region Public Health, the woman was a resident of Hillsdale Terraces in Oshawa, where there have been five positive cases of COVID-19 reported. That includes the four resisdents who were put in isolation at the home last week.
This woman was not one of the four.
Twenty others have been put in self-isolation, because they may have come into contact with the five positive cases.
The updated numbers also show there is now a backlog of more than 10,000 people waiting for test results.
Ontario has ordered all non-essential businesses to close by midnight tonight in order to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
A lengthy list of businesses that will be allowed to remain open includes grocery stores and pharmacies, alcohol and cannabis retail stores, gas stations, construction sites and dry cleaners.
