A man is dead after being hit by vehicle on the eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
"At this point in the investigation, it is a little too early to tell," Const. Craig Brister told CP24 Sunday morning. "I don’t want to start to get into speculation as to what they were doing on the highway in the first place but I know investigators are still currently working to determine that."
All lanes were closed from Jamieson to east of Spadina for about six hours.
And a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound lanes has left one person with life-threatening injuries.
"The indication that we have right now is that a vehicle spun out in the westbound lanes and then struck then guard rail and struck another vehicle," Const. Craig Brister told CP24 Sunday.

After police closed the westbound lanes of the highway at Park Lawn Road to investigate the crash, Brister said a cruiser was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
"We had the officer sustain minor injuries. It is expected that he is going to be alright," Brister said.
"The person driving that vehicle was investigated at the scene. Now they did register a warn when a breath sample was taken. Their driver’s licence has been suspended for 72 hours."
All westbound lanes were closed from South Kingsway to Parklawn. The lanes reopened around noon.
