A pedestrian struck and killed by a car in Etobicoke late Friday night has been identified as Pat Bourguignon, a fire chief who worked in the town of Schreiber, Ont., just off the shores of Lake Superior.
The Schreiber Fire department took to Twitter to announce his death Saturday morning.
Spokesperson Gary Long confirmed to Newstalk 1010 that Toronto Police received a call just before midnight of the accident at the intersection of Dixon Road and Attwell Drive.
" It was reports of a male struck at an intersection. Sadly the male did succumb to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased by the paramedics. it's a male in his 60's."
Long added the driver of the vehicle did remain on scene and cooperated with investigators.
Traffic services is investigating the accident. While power was out in the area, caused by Friday's wind storm, at the time of the accident, Long can't confirm if that was at all a factor.
" Not that I'm aware of, but it could have. But there's nothing in the report that I have so far that states any of that."
Dixon Road reopened to traffic early Satuday morning.
