Peel Regional Police now say a 31-year-old man is wanted for attempted murder after a shooting in Mississauga Tuesday, which left a woman injured and led to a fight with cops.
Officers were called to an area near Mavis and Eglinton West, around 2:30 p.m. for a shooting, finding a woman with gunshot wounds after some sort of fight.
She is expected to survive.
From there, police say the man took off through Sandford Farm Park, eventually meeting up with officers in the intersection of Stargazer and Sandford Farm Drives.
As police were trying to arrest the man, he managed to break free, and despite shooting at him and deploying a taser, he managed to drive away in a police cruiser.
It's unclear if the suspect was shot, but photos from the scene show blood on the door of the police cruiser, which was eventually found a short distance away.
From there, he reportedly stole another vehicle - a 2013 white Hyundai Sante Fe SUV with license plate AYVL 950.
31-year-old Michael Cleghorn, of no fixed address, is now wanted for attempted murder and anyone who sees him should not approach, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
Police say it's also unknown if Cleghorn has suffered any injuries from this incident and he may attempt to seek medical treatment.
The province's Special Investigation Unit has been called in.
