Toronto police have identified the woman killed in the underground PATH last night as 51-year-old Rae Cara Carrington.
Police tell NEWSTALK 1010 that the man who stabbed her is still on the run. They say they believe Carrington was targeted but they still can't tell us how the two may have been connected.
They say they have surveillance video of a suspect but they have not released it publicly.
The stabbing came just after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the food court below Commerce Court at King St W and Bay St.
"I heard the female clerk at the counter screaming, screaming her head off hysterically," a woman who had been watching TV in the food court told NEWSTALK 1010's sister station CP24. "It was eerie the way she was screaming just like spine-tingling, blood-curdling."
A male suspect took off running while the woman slumped to the floor. Emergency responders performed CPR on the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect is described as white, 20-30 years old, 5'8" to 5'9", medium build, with dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing a light-coloured ball cap, a black hooded sweater with a white T-shirt underneath, dark pants and dark shoes.
Forensic investigators spent the night working in the blocked-off food court.

The victim in Wednesday's attack is the second woman to be murdered in the PATH system in recent years.
In December 2015, Rosemarie Junor was stabbed in the heart by a stranger in a Shoppers Drug Mart below Bay St and Wellington Ave W. In November, Rohinie Bisesar was found not criminally responsible for Junor's death because untreated schizophrenia rendered her incapable of knowing the killing was morally and legally wrong.
