An overnight shooting at a banquet hall in Vaughan has left two people dead.
York Regional Police confirmed early Saturday morning that they responded to a call for gun shots just after 4:15 a.m.
According to Const. Andy Pattenden, they found one of the two victims inside the Dream Palace Banquet Hall on Keele Street near Rivermede Road. The second victim was found outside.
"We did find one male deceased at the scene. Another male was outside the banquet hall suffering from life-threatening injuries."
The second victim was rushed to hospital but succumb to his injuries.
Pattenden did not give specific details about the two victims, but did confirm "we do believe they're in their 20's".
The victim who died in hospital was later confirmed to be a 23-year-old male.
So far, police have not released any information about a potential suspect or suspects.
Police are asking for the public's assistance with their investigation, in particular anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or may have dash cam video.
