Toronto Police are sounding the alarm after three bizarre break-ins in the city's east end over the last two and half weeks.
Const. Caroline de Clouet says the break-ins happened while the occupants slept in an area bounded by Ellesmere Rd, Morningside Ave, Lake Ontario and the Durham Region border.
It's how the suspect behaved once he was discovered that police at 43 Division find unusual and unsettling.
Rather than take off, police say the man engaged the women or girls who found him in conversation, attempting to gather "personal information" about them. In the most recent case that conversation lasted 20 to 30 minutes before the suspect left on his own.
De Clouet says none of the women were threatened, hurt or sexually assaulted.
The man did allegedly steal some items, including a picture off the wall of his most recent stop.
The suspect in all three cases is described as a man black with a medium to light complexion in his mid to late 20s, standing 6' with a thin build and brown eyes.
Police are asking people to lock their doors and windows at night, turn on outdoor lights as a deterrent and to activate home alarms if they have them.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-4300 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
