The OPP have resumed their search for a three-year-old boy who has been missing since his van was swept away into the Grand River near Orangeville.
The boy's mother was driving southbound on Tenth Line early Wednesday morning when she went through a road closure sign. The road was closed because the river was overflowing.
The vehicle ended up in deep water, and police say when the driver tried to back up, it was pulled deeper into the river.
According to police, the mother was able to get herself and her son out of the van, but she lost her grip on the boy and he ended up in the water. The mother was rescued but the boy is still missing.
Const. Paul Nancekivell admits this is now a recovery mission, as the boy has been missing in the water for over 24 hours.
