Despite the rain and warmer temperatures we've been seeing lately, there's still a very good chance we could see a white Christmas.
Environment Canada says there's a significant snowfall on the way for the GTA, starting later in the afternoon on Thursday.
By the time you head into work on Friday, there could be as much as five to 10cms of snow on the ground.
And that snow will continue through the day on Friday, possibly adding up to another 2-5cms through the day.
If you are travelling to the Hamilton area or even down into Grimsby, the system will pick up moisture from Lake Ontario, and could end up dumping as much as 15cms on the ground.
There's also the risk of lake-effect snow coming off of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, meaning there could be significant snowfall to cottage country over Christmas and Boxing Day.
At this point, a white Christmas is a distinct possiblity.
"It looks pretty good at this point." says Geoff Coulson from Environment Canada. "Whatever we do pickup from this system, a chunk of it will likely stay around for Christmas morning, and we may even freshen it up a little with new snow on Christmas Day."
