There's still a month of winter, but spring is in the air this Family Day long weekend.
Environment Canada confirms we reached the projected high of 12 degrees in Toronto on Saturday, well above the record of 10.8 degrees set in 2011.
The weather agency is also forecasting 11 degrees on Sunday with above-freezing temperatures into the work week.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Ryan Rozinskis says it's all because of a low pressure system to the north.
"That's actually allowing a lot of warm air to start to approach the area coming into the weekend," he says.
However, winter likely isn't done yet.
Last May, a snowstorm hit the GTA.
"It's still February. There's still lots of opportunity to see more winter-like weather," Rozinskis says. "All it takes is...one low pressure system travelling to our south. That can cool temperatures right back down."
Spring officially arrives March 20 at 6:29 a.m. EST.
