A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after he and another 13-year-old were involved in an early morning crash in North York.
Police say a young teen, not even old enough to be in high school, was driving an SUV that collided with a fuel truck at Dufferin and Finch at around 5 a.m..Tuesday.
It was the passenger who went to hospital and police say they may lose a leg.
The owner of the SUV told police his son was the passenger in the vehicle.
The incident began in Thornhill about a half-hour earlier, when York Regional Police tried to stop the SUV, but the two teens took off.
The man added his son was facing several hours of surgery due to extensive injuries suffered in the crash.
The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which investigates whenever police are involved in an incident that results in a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault, has joined the investigation and assigned 3 investigators and 2 forensic investigators.
