Police have released the identity of the city's latest homicide victim.
17-year-old Caheem Ramsuchit, known as Clayshawn by his friends and family was shot dead at a Toronto community housing complex in North York.
Police say around 11:30 a.m. Saturday the victim was standing outside of a house on Shoreham Court, in the Jane street and Driftwood Avenue area, when he was shot as multiple times.
The victim does not live at the address where the shooting happened and he was said to be visiting friends in the area.
Police say their preliminary investigation suggests that the shooters fired on the teenager over a fence before leaving in a dark-coloured SUV.
Orlando Monteith had identified the victim as his nephew Caheen Monteith.
He said his nephew was a “lovely person,” who loved basketball.
“We’re trying to hold up,” Monteith said. “We just want the people responsible – just come forward. We’re a family that’s grieving right now. We just lost my dad last year … Now to bury my nephew, it’s like one thing after the other.
Police believe this was a targetted shooting.
They are talking to witnesses and gathering surveillance video to get a good description of the suspects.
