After a long debate, Toronto city councillors have voted on how to respond to the Ford government's planned changes to their numbers.
Premier Doug Ford and his team have introduced legislation to cut down council from 47 to 25 members.
The majority of councillors voted today to ask the province to hold a referendum on the matter, and to ask city lawyers to look into the legality of the move.
A special council meeting will be held on August 20th.
