The GTA including Toronto is getting a break from the bitter cold that has plagued the province over the past few weeks.
An extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada ended Sunday morning for many parts of the GTA including Toronto, Markham, Newmarket, Georgina, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Peel and Halton regions.
Monday and Tuesday will see highs of zero and the temperature will get even warmer mid-week.
But as the freezing temperatures move out, the snow moves in.
Environment Canada now issuing a special weather statement warning of snow for the Back to School commute in southern Ontario Monday.
Snowfall totals will average about 10 cm across southern Ontario with higher amounts to the northeast of the Great Lakes. However, the Toronto area is forecast to see lower snowfall amounts of about 5 cm.
The agency says " It appears that snow will be falling over all areas during the Monday morning commute. Untreated roads are expected to be slippery."
That snow expected to begin Sunday evening.
