Toronto Police have recovered a vehicle they believe was involved in a hit and run in the Entertainment District overnight.
Const. Clint Stibbe, speaking to CP24, confirmed the vehicle had been found.
"I'm not going to get into specifics exactly where it was found. But I can tell you it was found in Toronto, in the east side of Toronto. Currently is in our custody and we are bringing it to traffic services."
Police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at John Street and Stephanie Street just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Reports indicate a dark-coloured Jeep Wrangler was travelling north on John Street. While attempting to make a U-turn at Stephanie Street, the Jeep struck a black Honda pick-up truck.
The driver of the Honda, a 39-year-old man, got out of his car and got into a heated exchange with the driver of the Jeep.
The Jeep then proceeded to take off striking the 39-year-old man, causing life-threatening injuries.
The Jeep was last seen travelling southbound on John Street, towards Queen Street West.
Late Wednesday night, police released the identity of the driver. 20-year-old Joseph Alarcon of Toronto is wanted for Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm, Failing to Stop Causing Bodily Harm and Robbery.
Stibbe wouldn't verify if a tip or information from the public helped police track down the location of the Jeep, but did admit the response from the public about this case was very encouraging.
"The community has been extremely helpful in the number of tips they've supplied to us and have been very helpful in moving this investigation forward."
Stibbe added police continue to actively seek out the driver of the Jeep and continue to ask for assistance.
"We are still looking for any witnesses that may have seen anything that occurred and led up to the collision."
Police are asking all residents, business owners, and drivers who were in the area at the time of the collision, to contact police if they have any video or dash camera footage of the area.
