Toronto Police are hoping the public can help them in their search for a 52-year-old man, wanted in connection to a fraud and identity theft investigation in the United States.
Originally from Nigeria, Osaruyi Igbinob Enazena is a Canadian permanent resident who faces charges in Ohio in relation to a complex case. He's wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant.
He disappeared following an extradition hearing in Brampton last summer, and is believed to be somewhere in Canada. He has family and friends in the GTA.
The fugitive squad, who is in charge of the case, say he was arrested on February 5, 2018 on a provisional arrest warrant for extradition to face the charges against him in the U.S.
Following a contested bail hearing the following month on March 13, he was released on bail to live in Brampton.
On July 30, he attended Brampton's Superior Court of Justice for his extradition hearing. Following the morning session, police say the judge rejected several defence motions and said he would make a decision following the lunch break.
That's when Enazena left court and did not return. He was last seen leaving the building and heading towards Hurontario Street.
In his absence, the judge ruled to commit him to custody pending extradition.
Enazena is described as 5'9" and 210 pounds. He goes by several different names, including Eric Igbinoba, Osabowven Obika and Igbinoba Osavonwen.
Anyone who spots him is asked to call Detective Constable Jesse Dean, at 416-951-6850, or police at 416-808-5930. Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
