There was big trouble for thousands of GTA commuters this morning.
All lanes of the 401 express were closed for several hours across the top of Toronto.
The closure was place after a crash around 12:30 a.m. that sent three people to hospital, two with serious injuries.
All lanes fully re-opened just before 8:30 a.m.
Those most seriously hurt had to be extricated from their vehicles around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
It's not clear what led up to the crash in the WB lanes of the 401 near Yonge but unconfirmed reports suggested a transport truck may have been slammed into vehicles slowing or stopping for construction ahead.
The crash involved three transport trucks and two other vehicles.
