Twin 9-year-old boys are still in hospital after they were hit by a minivan at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue West and Magellan Drive Saturday morning.
Toronto Police Constable Clint Stibbe says the accident happened around 10:15 a.m.
One of the boys has serious injuries and the other has life-threatening injuries.
Stibbe said police continue to investigate potential causes of the accident, including speed, driver error and the actions of the victims themselves.
“It is important that we follow up on all the leads we get to determine exactly what happened,” he said. “Every collision is preventable and we need to keep in mind that no matter who you are you need to pay attention at all times to your surroundings.”
Stibbe said that it appears that the children were in the area of the crosswalk at the time.
The 20-year-old female driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police.
They are asking any witnesses to contact them.
No word on whether charges will be laid.
