Two teenagers have been charged with second degree murder in connection with a shooting earlier this month near York University.
44-year old Dwayne McMillan was gunned down in a plaza on Keele St., on the night of October 2nd.
Toronto Police believe McMillan was employed at an unlicensed marijuana dispensary that was about to close for the evening.
Det. Paul Warden tells CP24 that security camera footage shows that roughly 30 minutes before McMillan was set to close the store, four suspects showed up.
"Their motive in this was to rob the dispensary but it turned bad and one of their employees was killed," he says.
19-year old Jahnoye Carpenter of Toronto, and a 16-year old boy also face charges of arson to property.
Warden says the arson charges are linked to the alleged destruction of evidence, but would not go into detail.
The 16-year old cannot be identified as per Canada's Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Investigators are still looking for two other suspects.
Both of the accused were arrested on Thursday are scheduled to face the court for the first time on Friday.
